Vinaròs is a fairly large coastal town on the Costa del Azahar. Originally it was a sleepy fishing village, and even today it still has a fishing port of importance, which is reflected in the culinary tradition. With a population of approximately 29.000 it has an atmosphere in between village and city and - unlike some resorts on the spanish coast – it's lively all year round in Vinaròs. Internationally, Vinaròs is still less known, but for the Spaniards Vinaròs especially means: the famous 'Carnaval de Vinaròs '.

And above all ' the Langostinos de Vinaròs ', the local specialty, a large shrimp. Vinaròs nowadays offers a wide range of interesting places. A nice shopping center downtown, local bars, quiet bays in the northern side of Vinaròs and a wide sandy beach in the center. In summer Vinaròs Town Council organizes activities like yoga on the beach, a culinary festival of langostinos in August, and several performances (dance, theatre, music,...) on the promenade.
